Ricky Martin Coming Out Proud!!!

I wasn't shocked at all upon learning today that Ricky Martin finally came out of the closet. I mean, seriously there's nothing new about these big stars coming out and being themselves. (Eg., Lance Bass, the late Stephen Gately, Mark Feehily of the Irish Band Westlife, Prince --oops nah sorry.lol )

It just so happen that Ricky Martin is one of the biggest act Latin America has ever produced. harhar... cmon' really, nothing has changed. The whole gay community is prolly having a party ala-mardigras in every part of the world for his acceptance of his "true self."

At the end of the day, this revelation won't really matter. The man deserved all the respect in the world with more than 60 million dollars album sold, having great humanitarian works thru his non-profit Ricky Martin Foundation and giving us some of the best songs our generation has ever heard.

For me, Ricky is still the MAN!!!

I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be
who I am. --Ricky Martin

Timbaland with Justin Timberlake and JoJo in Manila

Just like what I expected, Timbo's beats are sick--haha! I know that majority of the audience are waitin' for JoJo and JT to perform. The concert started at around 9:30 in the evening which is really slated at 8PM but I guess, they decided to participate with the Earth Hour 2010. -bummer-

Also, i'd like to mention how disappointed I am with JoJo for only singing two songs.( Lose Control with Timbaland and Too Little Too Late). Everyone were like, "that was it???!!" To be honest, JoJo is one of the main reasons I went to this concert .

I was told that she may perform more songs on her next visit at the THEN and NOW Massive Music Festival 2010 in the same concert venue come May 15, 2010-- a day before the JOHN MAYER's concert. Still' the concert heading says TIMBALAND with JoJo , with special participation of Justin Timberlake....

JT is cool. I'm just waiting for him to sing Cry Me A River and Sexy Back and he did sing those songs and the crowd goes wild...

I find it rather stupid for SMART COMMUNICATIONS as the major sponsor to have these little billboard projectors instead of clear LCD screen for people at the back's benefits.

I didn't enjoy the concert that much cuz I didn't hear much from JoJo but since this concert is for a good cause (for the Typhoon Ondoy's victims), It's pretty much worth it then.

my fave parts of the concert are:

Timbaland singing If We Ever Meet Again
JoJo's appearance
Justin singing Cry Me A River with Timbaland.

Australia's Next Top Model Cycle 1-5 Winners

My recent post is about Nicole Fox who won last year's Cycle 13 of America's Next Top Model aka the Petite Cycle and since I'm into this top model thingy at the moment, I decided to write about the winners of Australia's Next Top Model which I think is the most successful franchise of TOP Model and is way more legit compared to the last seasons of ANTM.

Alice Burdeu stands 5'11" and she was born in Melbourne.

She's the most successful winner to date appearing in Vogue Australia twice now, and walking for world famous designers /brands such as Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Christian Lacroix and Marchesa to name a few...

Gemma Sanderson stands 5'10" - she's the most commercial among the five winners of AuNTM. She's also the most insecure (haha) but her photos during her cycle's photo shoots always deliver the goods. She's got this very american charm that won the vote of the judges for her to become the first Australia's Next Top Model.

Ebony Stocks, 5'10" - she's actually my initial favorite in Cycle 2 but for some reason, her goofy personality is not translating as a striking model.

Demelza Reveley, 5'10" - is probably the most hated Top Model contestant and winner to date. Dubbed as the leader of the "Dapto Dogs" bullies of her cycle, her win is one of the most controversial as everyone in Australia seemed to hate her for what she and her "dogs" did to fellow contestant Alamela Rowan who is now very successful in her career.
She is currently signed to Priscilla's Model Management in Australia and the face of Sydney's Strand Arcade as Alice in Wonderland.
Tahnee Atkinson who is 5'8" is obviously the shortest winner but one of the most competitive contestant to ever win the top prize.

Nicole Fox

The ever quiet artist Nicole Fox won the 13th "petite" Cycle of the hit show America's Next Top Model.

The second Nicole to do so after Ms.Linkletter bagged the title on Cycle 5.

She's 5'7--one of the two shortest winners in the history of the competition--with Eva Marcille being the first "petite" model to win back in Cycle 3.

She probably has the strongest face to be in the show ever next to Cycle 10 runner-up Anya Rozova.

She reminds me of Alice Burdue- the 3rd season winner of Australia's Next Top Model who is also the most successful AuNTM winner to date.

If only she's 5' 10" --she'll probably be walking the best couture fashion show in Paris right now...or maybe she would---someday...

She's currently signed with Wilhelmina Models.

Cycle 14 is currently on, thank Gawd Nicole won--she saved her cycle.

The Road Film Review

Director: John Hillcoat
Book by : Cormac McCarthy
Screenplay: Joe Penhall

Starring:
Viggo Mortensen
Kodi Smit-McPhee
Michael K. Williams
Robert Duvall
Guy Pearce
and Charlize Theron

Release Date: November 2009

The film has basically no story about the premise on how the apocalyptic event in the film happened and the struggle is about the father and son keeping up their faith with each other and trying to survive as humane as possible.

It's probably the most depressing film I've seen in a while. The premise in a post-apocalyptic America where a father and a son were shown on a journey towards a warmer place, in the south is as bleak as the film's backdrop.

I haven't read the book of the same title but after watching the film, I don't think I'd read the book-- as i've said, it's just way too depressing.

Viggo Mortensen as the father was amazing, there is this depth about him being the father taking care of his son, protecting him in every way he can.

I don't really like the son played by Kodi Smit-McPhee, he tends to be annoying everytime he deliver his line. I'm no expert on this but the innocence the film is trying to depict from Smit-McPhee is not translating--atleast for me.

I'd give the film 3 out of 5 Stars.

Alice In Wonderland Film Review

Directed by Tim Burton
Written by Linda Woolverton (screenplay)
From Lewis Carroll (book)

Starring

Mia Wasikowska - Alice
Johnny Depp - Mad Hatter
Anne Hathaway - White Queen
Helena Bonham Carter - Red Queen
Crispin Glover - Knave of Hearts
Michael Sheen - White Rabbit
Stephen Fry - Cheshire Cat

So almost every movie buff I know of is waiting for this new Tim Burton- Johnny Depp team up of Alice In Wonderland! I thought the film is wickedly cute but wickedly weak! It's the usual Tim Burton flick when it comes to visual effects so that alone is a treat for all of you fans but for some reason, after watching the whole thing -- I immediately forgot most of the scenes -- goes to show that IT IS QUITE FORGETTABLE and pretty DISAPP --- you got my point aye?

Johnhy Depp is definitely the main star of the film but Helena Bonham Carter (The Red Queen) stole his moments. The head alone of Miss Carter in this film is wicked enough to make you laugh at her antics. Anne Hathaway's portrayal of the White Queen is quite funny as well. Very eccentric in an endearing way! Mia Wasikowska as Alice who reminds me of Clare Danes -- yes she reminds me of Clare Danes. And yes, that's it.

It's the dark version of this well-loved story ala Grimm Brothers with its catch of Alice naming the Underland-- Wonderland.

I'll give it a 7 out of 10 ratings for the visual treat and Helena Bonham Carter's impressive performance.

Remember Me, Dear John

I've watched these two films over my vacation in the province and surprisingly, I like ‘em both. It’s weird because they both have the 9/11 terror attacks as one of the defining scenes in the film – the end of Remember Me and in the middle of Dear John.
Both have this nonchalant vibes which make you empathize with them. It’s like both male leads are in so much pain that you’d actually feel it yourself.

Director: Allen Coulter

Starring

Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Chris Cooper, Lena Olin, Pierce Brosnan, Tate Ellington, Ruby Jerins

Robert Pattinson played a rebellious young man in New York who has a not so good relationship with his lawyer Dad. His big brother Michael committed suicide when he was 22 and Tyler (Pattinson) was deeply affected by the tragedy as he continues to write to Michael whenever he can in their favorite cafĂ©. And then he met Ally to whom he falls in love. It was the twist of fate that led them to heal both of their wounded soul –Ally’s Mom was murdered in the subway when she was 9. They both found solace from each other and just when everything seemed to fall into places, fate would intervene in the most tragic way.

It was actually a poignant film about forgiveness, falling in love and “living.” I love how Robert Pattinson and Emilie De Ravin complimented each other on the screen. It’s not going to make you cry buckets but it would make you realize that there are things more important in life than any material things could offer.

Ratings: 7.5 / 10

Director: Lasse Hallström

Starring

Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried, Henry Thomas, Scott Porter, Richard Jenkins

Dear John on the other hand strangely touched my heart in a subtle way that Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried delivered their lines. The whole letter thingy was something that I can relate to being in a long distance relationship (before) myself. Their love reminds me of Ennis and Jack’s love for each other in Brokeback Mountain for some weird reasons. It’s like knowing that you love each other deeply but you can’t be together. I love how the film ended differently than what is written in the book by Nicholas Sparks. Atleast, audience have the chance to conclude that they end up together because Tim died eventually whilst in the book Time lived. I’d say it is my favorite Nicholas Sparks film adaptation to date.

Ratings: 7/ 10
