My 2012 Oscars Prediction

As per tradition (that started last year – lol), I am again naming my picks for this year’s Academy Awards also known as the Oscars. A lot of good movies last year and a lot of amazing performance but only one per category stood out!

Here are my prediction for this coming’s Sunday event!

Best Picture

Okay, I have to give it to The Artist – This black and white silent film simply revolutionized the silent era (it did?? Lol). Actually, I’m basing my prediction not because I love the film but because of the accolades it accomplished from different award giving bodies prior to the big O!

SPOILER: The Tree Of Life

Best Director

I have to give it to Martin Scorsese for the genius that is Hugo. I would’ve wanted Hugo to take home the Best Picture Film but it’s apparently not in the contention of atleast being in the Top3. It is nominated but Scorsese toppled the film itself.

SPOILER: Michel Hazanavicius for The Artist

Best Actor

Now, here’s the tricky part. We have two front-runners. First, George Clooney was touted to get the nod for his role in the Descendants early on in the game but feisty actor Jean Dujardin suddenly gained momentum when he bagged the top prize at the Screen Actors Guild and the BAFTA. With that being said though, I’d still think George will get this one.

SPOILER: Jean Dujardin for The Artist

Best Actress

Meryl Streep and Viola Davis are head to head on this one with Streep winning the Globes and the BAFTA and Davis winning the SAG. As much as I love Viola, I still think Meryl’s 3rd Oscar is long overdue for this yet another exemplary performance as the iron lady, Margaret Thatcher.

SPOILER: Viola Davis for The Help

LOCKED: Octavia Spencer for The Help and Christopher Plummer for The Beginners – nominated for Best Actress and Actor in a Supporting Role.

SPOILER: None.

Best Original Screenplay – The Artist

Adele's 2012 Grammy Awards Performance!

Hi peepz! I just want to post this amazing performance by one of my new favorite artists, Adele. Such an amazing performance at this year's (last night) Grammy Awards where she won all six awards she was nominated for. I bet the other artists are real proud to have been nominated alongside with her!

Moving Forward

As I've said from my last post of 2011, tragedy has strucked my family as my dear father couldn't wait to meet my Mom again who passed in 2010. It's been rough losing both parents in a span of two years but I think we'll be good from this point on. I'm not sure if anyone of us have totally accepted this fact but I'm (we're) getting by.

I'm trying to live life now like it has given me a new chance to live it. I'm trying to be optimistic about everything which I find difficult. It's just not my character. I guess I don't have to be positive about everything else since a lot of things (and people) usually irritates me! Haha!

I've something great to be thankful about though. I have a new nephew! What a blessing for us. It's like some sort of a re-incarnation. When Mom left us last July of 2010, my sister Mirasol gave birth to my niece Arabella and just last January 10 - she gave birth again (clearly unplanned but definitely welcomed) but this time to a baby boy whose name I really love, Nigel Jacob! I sorta believe in re-incarnation but I think it's more of a blessings for us that these two kiddos became like some sort of a replacement from our loss. I know that my parents are watching us from above and guiding us every step of the way. Since I'm talking about my parents, it was my Nanay and Tatay's birthday last January 13 and 15. Nanay would've been 57 and Tatay 67. They're pretty young no, I guess that's life. Way too short.

And speaking of short, I just have to segue this to my current "day job" in a call center somewhere in Quezon City. Short because It's only been about 3 months since I started working here and I actually kinda enjoy it here (plus the pay), the only negative thing is that I'm stucked with some "creatures" that I will never in my entire life would wish to work with again! I'm MEAN so I call them the self-absorbed frodo and the self-centered bore. They simply think that they're the best thing to happen in the company. They're giving me such a laugh to be honest. Too pathetic.

Since this post seemed to be just updates about my life, (and being the most personal in ages) I'd also like to share my endeavor to finally try working overseas. It has been my plan since 2010 to work abroad and I'm just about ready to fly to Dubai then but Mom asked me not to push through with it - not knowing that she'd be gone that year. Going back to my plans, I think it's very much feasible to plan and really do it now. I mean, I'm not getting any younger and I am finally looking for stability. I need some first before finally settling it - to whatever career I may choose to take! Life, Oh life!

Finally, It's over four years now since I posted my first entry and I'm hoping to continue to post more personal stuff rather than just any post that would generate traffic. (adsense, click for pay etc...) LOLS. That was my mistake when I started commercializing my blog - I'm looking to transfer some post to another blog and I'm hoping that I'd find the time to update them regularly. After all, those"commercialized" stuff are my personal take on things!

Here's to a wonderful year of blogging to everyone! Let us thread this journey of life altogether peeps!

Byebye 2011

Okay, so my blogging stopped here when my favorite Janet Devlin was eliminated at the X Factor UK (with Little Mix ending up winning the title over Marcus Collins.)

Anyhoo, I have been quite busy as well with my dayjob and I mostly do my updates on my fashion blog which I'm more enthusiastic about (atleast at this moment.)

I've been experiencing what they call a "writer's block"and I am hoping that I could get over this soon. A lot has happened over the past few week but I will only tell you about the most tragic that happened last week when my father passed away. I won't talk about it in details but it's just sad and oh so depressing. I am hoping though that next week, next year would bring some positivity and more blessings.

This would probably be my last blog of the year here and I just want to greet each and evey visitors of this blog a blessed 2012!

Cheers!
Archie

The X Factor UK 2011 Live Show 8 Recap - Top 5

Live Blogging

The Top 5 acts are going to sing two songs apiece tonight to impress the judges and the voting public. Whose dreams will continue tomorrow? Who’s your favorite to move on for next week?

First Song

Little Mix

Baby by Justin Bieber/Where Did Our Love Go – Rachel Crow sang this at the American version of X Factor and thought the latter did better than them. They were all over the place. I’ve high hopes for them so I wish they would do better on their second song!

Janet Devlin

MMMBop by Hanson – She is not good in memorizing I noticed! I hope she would have an amazing performance after this train wreck!

Misha B

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper – It is yet again another amazing performance! The rapping is back!!!

Marcus Collins

I’m Your Man by Wham – The dancers were a bit distracting. Marcus, please stop copying Bruno Mars! You’re adorable enough to be just Marcus Collins, okay?!

Amelia Lily

China In Hand by T’Pau – What a very weird song choice! The performance was subtle and steady though. I’m not too keen about her performance but I’m just glad that she went back to being blonde again!

Second Song

Little Mix

Beautiful by Christina Aguilera – Their harmony was a bit off in some parts but they pull through the end! Perrie (the blonde one) was such an incredible vocalist!!!!

Janet Devlin

Under The Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers – I actually loved her second performance! I thought her choice of song was wicked! She’s true to herself and that’s what I’m really into her as an artist!

Misha B

Killing Me Softly by The Fugees – Her song choice was a bit predictable but she sang it (as usual) really well! The only negative thing I could say about her is her lack of originality

Marcus Collins

Lately by Stevie Wonder – I love this performance better than the first one. I just find it a bit shaky at the start otherwise, it’s okay!

Amelia Lily

Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson – What an amazing performance! This girl’s amazing!!! I’m glad she came back!

Performance Of The Night

Round 1 – Misha

Round 2 – Little Mix

I think the probable bottom two for tomorrow are Marcus Collins and Misha B.

The X Factor UK 2011 Results Show 7 Recap - Craig Colton Eliminated!

Live Blogging

Result’s show tonight!!! Rihanna will be performing as well as last year’s runner-up Rebecca Ferguson launching her first single entitled Nothing’s Real But Love! Who will be leaving us tonight?

Rebecca looked amazing as usual! She really has this high-end thingy going on about her! I wished her single the best of luck in the charts!

Rihanna performed her newest single We Found Love and her outfit kinda reminds me of Cher Lloyd when she performed about two weeks ago.

Call Out Order of Safe Acts

Misha B

Little Mix

Marcus Collins

Janet Devlin

So Amelia Lily and Craig Colton will be battling it out for survival! Let’s see what the judges have to say – If it’s a deadlock though, I’d love for Craig to leave.

Amelia killed the sing-off!

Judges Voted To Eliminate

Gary Barlow – Craig (backing his own act)

Kelly Rowland – Amelia (backing her own act)

Tulisa – Amelia (because she was moved.ugh)

Louis – Craig (yay!)

It’s a deadlock for the first time and the act who received the least number of votes is CRAIG COLTON! Byebye!
