2010 FHM Philippines' 100 Sexiest Women in the World

July 1, 2010
I was quite disappointed with the FHM's Top 10 sexiest list this year. I don't really dig it --I know that the public voted for 'em to be on this list but I was very surprised that Angel Locsin actually snag the Top Spot from early front-runners Marian Rivera and last year's finest' Cristine Reyes.

So Angel Locsin went on to become this year's finest with Marissa Miller becoming the Global Winner who really deserved to be called the sexiest in the world If I may say!

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Film Review

June 30, 2010 -SM North, Edsa
Ticket Price: P160.00

I never thought that I'd like Eclipse this much after Chris Weitz disappointing take on The Twilight Saga: New Moon. I'm ready to be disappointed with yet again another director David Slade who previously did 30 Days of Night . I am quite surprise because the film was well made and it didn't disappoint -- I'd say that it's the best Twilight installment to date (with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn coming in two parts in the next couple of years.)

The film was full with enigmatic scenes that allowed the audience to feel the experiences of each characters.

Screenplay-wise, I commend Melissa Rosenberg for keeping up much of the book's details. I love the fight scene between the newborn and the alliance between the Cullens and the wolf pack. I thought it was pretty neat and that "about 10 minutes" scene was one of the film's highlights.

Victoria, now played by Bryce Dallas Howard looks kinda weird to me. She kinda look like an old vampire --not even in a pretty kind of way. I wish they kept Rachelle Lefevre for the part but it isn't much of a distraction though, I mean I think everyone did well in the movie.

The flashback scenes are a great watch as well. (Rosalie and Jasper's past)

Also, I would like to comment about Seth Clearwater played by Boo Boo Stewart -- what's up with the face? He's not very attractive on those shots (during the council meeting when Jacob introduced him to Bella -- you see, Seth would get a lot of scenes in the final film based on the book). It's probably the lighting or the make up but I hope they could've gotten a better looking kid to play the role. (he's okay in pictures but bad on films ---wish they could do something about it on Breaking Dawn)

Jacob (Taylor Lautner ) was probably on the screen for like 75% of the film and I'm wondering if I'm the only one who doesn't get his acting very much on this film -- I mean, it was a-ok but it's getting kind of overbearing at times.

Bella ( Kristen Stewart ) was at her best-- playing someone who is torn between two lovers makes her look more vulnerably appealing! And Edward ( Robert Pattinson ) complimented Kristen that much that everyone in the audience gasp when he proposed marriage.

I'd give this installment an 8.5/10 for a very well execution and I'd recommend a second viewing!

How To Train Your Dragon Review

Directors: Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois

Starring / Voices by:
Jay Baruchel
Gerard Butler
Christopher Mintz-Plasse
Jonah Hill
America Ferrera
Craig Ferguson

This early, I daresay that How To Train Your Dragon would get a nod for 2011 Academy Awards Best Picture and win the Best Animation Film category. This film is by far one of the best films I've watched this year. The whole thing about it is almost- perfect! Adorable characters, genius dialogues, great fast-paced storyline set in a pre-technology fictional era.

Hiccup and Toothless are the new Lilo and Stitch, Woody and Buzz and yes, they're the new BFF that would surely capture the heart of the film festival's voters and audience all over the world!

In spite of having a poor trailer, this tale of friendship proved to be strong at the box office debuting at number one and preventing the much talked-about "Kick-Ass" to debut atop.

This without question is a film that you need to enjoy watching in 3D after James Cameron's Avatar.

I will give this a unprecedented 10/10 ratings!

The Back-up Plan Review

Director: Alan Poul

Starring
Jennifer Lopez
Alex O'Loughlin
Noureen Dewulf
Melissa McCarthy
Eric Christian Olsen

Jennifer Lopez as Zoe is desperately wanting to have a child so she decided to have herself inseminated through a sperm bank. Unaware of her pregnancy, she met the "Cheese" guy Stan (Alex O'Loughlin) and they started dating. Until she found out she's pregnant, complications arose with Zoe apparently carrying twins!

The vibe of the film is the usual JLo Rom-Com flick ala Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner and Monster In Law. The plotline is pretty unusual since the stage of dating to marriage to pregnancy was reversed. There are spot-on moments were Jennifer was really funny and her chemistry with Alex is truly undeniable. It's a feel good movie but is a bit forgettable. I'd give it a 5.5 / 10 ratings.

Regine Velasquez : Breaking The Diva Meter!

Surviving the entertainment industry for over 20 years, Regine has proven her stronghold to fame and success by constantly re-inventing herself and producing hits after hits may it be on television, films or her first love – music. She is a living icon who started from rags to riches. She’s no Cinderella but she represents that dream, that hope and that power to follow your dreams whatever hindrance there maybe.

Her voice is as powerful as her influence to the new generations of young singers who are hoping to mimic the success that she had and she’s still getting up until this time. She is the standard of success as she continuously gives inspirations thru her arts, a standard that only few could ever imagine reaching.

On her birthday today, I would like to salute Regine Velasquez for her tremendous contributions to the entertainment industry, for becoming the meter of success and for sharing her gift to everyone who has been touched by it.

YOU ARE THE NUMBER ONE DIVA REGINE!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Clash Of The Titans Review

Director: Louis Leterrier

Starring
Sam Worthington
Mads Mikkelson
Alexa Davalos
Danny Huston
Gemma Arterton
Pete Postelthwaite
Ralph Fiennes
Liam Neeson

Where: SM North Edsa -Cinema 6 6:45PM
When: April 3, 2010

This movie as I found out prior to watching it is a remake of the 1981 film of the same title. I'm not that thrilled to watch it. I guess I'm just interested with all the effects and see Sam Worthington - his follow up film after Avatar which was shown last year and became the top grossing film in history.

I enjoyed the film tho I'm not really jumping off my seat. The visuals are ok --nothing spectacular. There's nothing exciting about it and nothing to rave about. It sure sound bordering to being boring but it's really not. The film is about 2 hours and you'd actually enjoy the visuals and it's fast pacing. Watching it is like going to the grocery store with the exact list of what you'd be buying. You'd even think that Sam Worthington who played the son of Zeus, Perseus actually looked like Jake (his character from Avatar)- i mean with the same hair and same demeanor. It's like he did the film while making Avatar.

Yes, it is a snooze fest.

Ratings: 4.5/10

Ricky Martin Coming Out Proud!!!

I wasn't shocked at all upon learning today that Ricky Martin finally came out of the closet. I mean, seriously there's nothing new about these big stars coming out and being themselves. (Eg., Lance Bass, the late Stephen Gately, Mark Feehily of the Irish Band Westlife, Prince --oops nah sorry.lol )

It just so happen that Ricky Martin is one of the biggest act Latin America has ever produced. harhar... cmon' really, nothing has changed. The whole gay community is prolly having a party ala-mardigras in every part of the world for his acceptance of his "true self."

At the end of the day, this revelation won't really matter. The man deserved all the respect in the world with more than 60 million dollars album sold, having great humanitarian works thru his non-profit Ricky Martin Foundation and giving us some of the best songs our generation has ever heard.

For me, Ricky is still the MAN!!!

I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be
who I am. --Ricky Martin

Timbaland with Justin Timberlake and JoJo in Manila

Just like what I expected, Timbo's beats are sick--haha! I know that majority of the audience are waitin' for JoJo and JT to perform. The concert started at around 9:30 in the evening which is really slated at 8PM but I guess, they decided to participate with the Earth Hour 2010. -bummer-

Also, i'd like to mention how disappointed I am with JoJo for only singing two songs.( Lose Control with Timbaland and Too Little Too Late). Everyone were like, "that was it???!!" To be honest, JoJo is one of the main reasons I went to this concert .

I was told that she may perform more songs on her next visit at the THEN and NOW Massive Music Festival 2010 in the same concert venue come May 15, 2010-- a day before the JOHN MAYER's concert. Still' the concert heading says TIMBALAND with JoJo , with special participation of Justin Timberlake....

JT is cool. I'm just waiting for him to sing Cry Me A River and Sexy Back and he did sing those songs and the crowd goes wild...

I find it rather stupid for SMART COMMUNICATIONS as the major sponsor to have these little billboard projectors instead of clear LCD screen for people at the back's benefits.

I didn't enjoy the concert that much cuz I didn't hear much from JoJo but since this concert is for a good cause (for the Typhoon Ondoy's victims), It's pretty much worth it then.

my fave parts of the concert are:

Timbaland singing If We Ever Meet Again
JoJo's appearance
Justin singing Cry Me A River with Timbaland.

Australia's Next Top Model Cycle 1-5 Winners

My recent post is about Nicole Fox who won last year's Cycle 13 of America's Next Top Model aka the Petite Cycle and since I'm into this top model thingy at the moment, I decided to write about the winners of Australia's Next Top Model which I think is the most successful franchise of TOP Model and is way more legit compared to the last seasons of ANTM.

Alice Burdeu stands 5'11" and she was born in Melbourne.

She's the most successful winner to date appearing in Vogue Australia twice now, and walking for world famous designers /brands such as Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Christian Lacroix and Marchesa to name a few...

Gemma Sanderson stands 5'10" - she's the most commercial among the five winners of AuNTM. She's also the most insecure (haha) but her photos during her cycle's photo shoots always deliver the goods. She's got this very american charm that won the vote of the judges for her to become the first Australia's Next Top Model.

Ebony Stocks, 5'10" - she's actually my initial favorite in Cycle 2 but for some reason, her goofy personality is not translating as a striking model.

Demelza Reveley, 5'10" - is probably the most hated Top Model contestant and winner to date. Dubbed as the leader of the "Dapto Dogs" bullies of her cycle, her win is one of the most controversial as everyone in Australia seemed to hate her for what she and her "dogs" did to fellow contestant Alamela Rowan who is now very successful in her career.
She is currently signed to Priscilla's Model Management in Australia and the face of Sydney's Strand Arcade as Alice in Wonderland.
Tahnee Atkinson who is 5'8" is obviously the shortest winner but one of the most competitive contestant to ever win the top prize.

Nicole Fox

The ever quiet artist Nicole Fox won the 13th "petite" Cycle of the hit show America's Next Top Model.

The second Nicole to do so after Ms.Linkletter bagged the title on Cycle 5.

She's 5'7--one of the two shortest winners in the history of the competition--with Eva Marcille being the first "petite" model to win back in Cycle 3.

She probably has the strongest face to be in the show ever next to Cycle 10 runner-up Anya Rozova.

She reminds me of Alice Burdue- the 3rd season winner of Australia's Next Top Model who is also the most successful AuNTM winner to date.

If only she's 5' 10" --she'll probably be walking the best couture fashion show in Paris right now...or maybe she would---someday...

She's currently signed with Wilhelmina Models.

Cycle 14 is currently on, thank Gawd Nicole won--she saved her cycle.

The Road Film Review

Director: John Hillcoat
Book by : Cormac McCarthy
Screenplay: Joe Penhall

Starring:
Viggo Mortensen
Kodi Smit-McPhee
Michael K. Williams
Robert Duvall
Guy Pearce
and Charlize Theron

Release Date: November 2009

The film has basically no story about the premise on how the apocalyptic event in the film happened and the struggle is about the father and son keeping up their faith with each other and trying to survive as humane as possible.

It's probably the most depressing film I've seen in a while. The premise in a post-apocalyptic America where a father and a son were shown on a journey towards a warmer place, in the south is as bleak as the film's backdrop.

I haven't read the book of the same title but after watching the film, I don't think I'd read the book-- as i've said, it's just way too depressing.

Viggo Mortensen as the father was amazing, there is this depth about him being the father taking care of his son, protecting him in every way he can.

I don't really like the son played by Kodi Smit-McPhee, he tends to be annoying everytime he deliver his line. I'm no expert on this but the innocence the film is trying to depict from Smit-McPhee is not translating--atleast for me.

I'd give the film 3 out of 5 Stars.

Alice In Wonderland Film Review

Directed by Tim Burton
Written by Linda Woolverton (screenplay)
From Lewis Carroll (book)

Starring

Mia Wasikowska - Alice
Johnny Depp - Mad Hatter
Anne Hathaway - White Queen
Helena Bonham Carter - Red Queen
Crispin Glover - Knave of Hearts
Michael Sheen - White Rabbit
Stephen Fry - Cheshire Cat

So almost every movie buff I know of is waiting for this new Tim Burton- Johnny Depp team up of Alice In Wonderland! I thought the film is wickedly cute but wickedly weak! It's the usual Tim Burton flick when it comes to visual effects so that alone is a treat for all of you fans but for some reason, after watching the whole thing -- I immediately forgot most of the scenes -- goes to show that IT IS QUITE FORGETTABLE and pretty DISAPP --- you got my point aye?

Johnhy Depp is definitely the main star of the film but Helena Bonham Carter (The Red Queen) stole his moments. The head alone of Miss Carter in this film is wicked enough to make you laugh at her antics. Anne Hathaway's portrayal of the White Queen is quite funny as well. Very eccentric in an endearing way! Mia Wasikowska as Alice who reminds me of Clare Danes -- yes she reminds me of Clare Danes. And yes, that's it.

It's the dark version of this well-loved story ala Grimm Brothers with its catch of Alice naming the Underland-- Wonderland.

I'll give it a 7 out of 10 ratings for the visual treat and Helena Bonham Carter's impressive performance.
